What is Ecological Psychology?

"Ecological psychology recognizes that humans are ecological beings, subject to the same planetary processes, dynamics, symbioses, and sympoieses that shape Earth’s living and dying together narratives and behaviors."

                                                            -Dr. Lori Pye

Ecological Psychology (Ecopsychology) is an integration of many intellectual disciplines, including environmental studies, humanities, anthropology, ecology and mythology. Ultimately, the naming of Ecological Psychology is meant to convey the "study of home"  and is founded in the belief that all beings are intra-related within the broader ecosystem.

Ecopsychology is based on the understanding of five principles, and teaches us ways we can apply this knowledge to understand ourselves in a more profound and intuitive sense.

Energy Exchange

Diversity

Decay and Renewal

Change

Relationship

Although these concepts may seem overwhelming and esoteric, the practices and ideas we work with are accessible and intuitive, even to individuals without any previous experience in these fields.
